Grades 1-4

Applying for Fall 2022

Please read below to learn more about the application process for grades 1-4.

List of 7 items.

  • Step 1: Applications

    • The application for Grades 1-4 2022-2023 is now live. Please click here to apply.
  • Step 2: Events

We will host a virtual information session about the process on December 14th at 4pm. Please click here to join the webinar.
  • Step 3: Virtual tours, Interviews and Assessments

Most new students enter Trinity in Kindergarten, and spaces for grades 1-4 are available only through attrition. Still, we would be pleased to consider your child’s application for any openings that may occur and encourage you to begin the process. If space becomes available and we are able to meet with your family, our office will call you to arrange appointments (typically in January or February). We will not interview until we learn about a space, and regrettably, we are unable to meet with all families that apply. For more information about our calendar and space limitations, please click here. If we are able to schedule an appointment, your family will receive a virtual tour via Zoom. Parents will also Zoom with an Admissions Officer and your child will work with a member of the Admissions team virtually. In addition, we require the ISEE Primary for grades 2-4.
  • Step 4: School Report

Give the “Permission to Release Records” form to your child’s current school. This enables the school to send us your child’s report this winter. (You may wait to submit this form to your current school until we know about space.)
  • Step 5: Teacher Recommendation, Grades 2-4

For grades two and three, families should ask a current teacher of the applicant to fill out our Teacher Recommendation form. For grade four, families should ask two teachers. These must be sent to our office directly from the school or teacher. You may provide the teacher the form electronically via your SchoolAdmin Parent Portal or print and give it to them directly with instructions on how to return it to us (by mail or email).
  • Step 6: Writing Sample, Grades 2-4

A writing sample is required for second, third and fourth grade applicants. Ideally, we would like a copy of your child’s writing from school with teacher comments written on it (i.e. an essay, book report, personal narrative, etc.). An explanation of what the assignment was and when it was done should also be included. If you do not have anything from your school, please upload any current piece of writing.
  • Step 7: File Completion

All application components should be in our hands by early to mid-January. The “To Do” checklist section of your SchoolAdmin account will reveal if any items are missing. For additional details to the steps listed on this page, please click here.

(Note: Personal letters of recommendation are not required; multiple letters are discouraged.)

General Timeline 2021-22

*These dates are dictated by our Admissions Association ISAAGNY (which stands for Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York). While ISAAGNY states that files should be complete by January, we understand that sometimes items might not be available until later in January. Due to the unpredictable nature of attrition, it is possible we will conduct visits past ISAAGNY’s printed dates (and give file completion extensions) depending on our enrollment needs.
