General Application Information, Fall 2021
Kindergarten - Grade 4
To apply for Kindergarten, you should begin the process in the fall prior to the year of entrance. Children must be five years old before August 31st to enter Kindergarten. Parents are given a virtual tour of the school by a current Trinity parent, and at a separate appointment, parents will speak with a member of the admissions staff. Applicant children will take a virtual, child-friendly, non-standardized assessment.
Since most new students enter Trinity in Kindergarten, spaces for grades 1-4 are available only through attrition. We would be pleased to consider your child’s application should openings occur. Applications should be filed in the fall and supplementary materials should be forwarded to the school. If space allows, our office will call to schedule appointments.

Trinity Admissions Grades K-4

Thank you for your interest in Trinity’s Middle and Upper Schools! We wish that we could show you what Trinity is all about with our traditional Open Houses and tours, but this fall Admissions will remain virtual. Please be sure to explore our website, along with its publications and video links, to gain a sense of what makes a Trinity education so special. Below, please also view a video which shows a typical day in our Upper School-- you will see many spaces, and learn about our programs. On filming day, our students were eager to share about their classes and how (and where) they spend their time here each day!
Trinity Admissions Grades 9-12
Families interested in applying to Trinity should begin in the fall of the year prior to entry.
The online application opens on Wednesday, September 8, and it must be completed by Friday, November 19.
Almost all students enter Trinity in Kindergarten or Grade 9. We welcome approximately 65 students in Grade 9. It’s exciting to have the cohort more than double in size from Grade 8 to Grade 9, and to have an infusion of new learners from different backgrounds, types of schools, and areas of NYC and beyond!
Each year, a small number of students may enter Grades 5, 6, 7, 10, or 11. This number depends on the attrition of current families. If we learn that a student will leave Trinity, a space in that grade will open for an applicant. Please see the “application steps” for more information and procedures by grade. Trinity does not enroll new students in Grades 8 or 12.
Trinity follows the ISAAGNY (Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York) dates for Admissions notifications and replies. Grade 9 decisions will be sent by email on Friday, February 18, 2022.

International Students, and students outside of the New York metropolitan area, please note: Trinity School is not a boarding school. We are happy to have applicants from around the nation and world, but our students live in New York or surrounding areas with their families. We do not help students arrange living accommodations.
