Grades 10-11

Applying for Fall 2022

Trinity School’s entry grades are Kindergarten and Grade 9. Grades 10 and 11 may have openings based on current family attrition. You are welcome to apply, and we will proceed with your application if we learn of an available space for next September. Attrition is often determined in the middle of the academic year, so we might not have knowledge of openings until January or even later. We would like to be able to consider your child for any spaces that occur, and our office will contact you as soon as we know if that will be possible.

Application Steps: Grades 10-11

List of 6 items.

  • Step 1: Initial Application

Complete and submit the initial online application. There is no fee at this time. A $75 fee will be charged if we are able to move forward with your application. There is a fee waiver if you are applying for Financial Aid. To start the application, you will have to set up an account on our portal.

The online application is due by November 19.
  • Step 2: Interview

Wait for our office to contact you to schedule an interview. Since we start to learn of attrition in late December and in the following months, interviews tend to be in January and February.

You will receive details about your virtual family interview when we contact you. The entire appointment will take approximately one hour. It will be a time for us to learn about your child and family, and for you to learn and ask questions about our school. We look forward to it!
  • Step 3: Arrange for Testing

Students applying to Trinity must submit scores for the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT). The test must be taken between August 20, 2021 and January 6, 2022. Please list Trinity for scores to be released to us from the test company. Trinity’s codes are: ISEE 334090,  and SSAT 7769.  The testing companies have devised new ways of administering their tests during the pandemic, and we accept all formats  (at schools or test centers, and also remote at-home settings).
  • Step 4: Teacher  Recommendations*

Please ask two “major subject” teachers to fill out a recommendation form (major subject = English, history, math, science). One of your recommendations should be from a current teacher, and the other should be from your prior school year.

A third teacher recommendation can be added to your file if you choose to have one sent to us, but it is not expected or necessary.

Recommendations can be sent to application.documents5-12@trinityschoolnyc.org

If you would like, you may submit additional letters or materials in support of your application. Please send them to application.documents5-12@trinityschoolnyc.org. Inclusion of these optional items will not bear influence on admissions decisions.

*Due to the uncertainty of being able to proceed with applications for Grades 10 and 11, it is fine to wait to ask teachers for recommendations. You can request them after we inform you of an opening. Teachers can complete and send us the reference letters at that time.
  • Step 5:  Transcripts/Report Cards*

Please ask your school(s) to send us your transcript/report cards for this year as each term completes, and also from last year. Use this Transcript Request Form so that the school(s) know how to send the information directly to us. They should be sent to application.documents5-12@trinityschoolnyc.org.

*Due to the uncertainty of being able to proceed with applications for Grades 10 and 11, it is fine to wait to ask schools to send us transcripts. You can request them after we inform you of an opening. Schools can send us the records at that time.
  • Step 6: Optional Parents' Statement

We are happy to receive a parents’ statement, if you would like to write one. If you choose to do so, you could tell us anything that will help the admissions committee know your child. You may wish to discuss why you see Trinity as a good place for your child, your child’s interests and talents, and/or your child’s experiences in school so far.
