Applying for Fall 2022

Please read below to learn more about the application process for Kindergarten at Trinity. Note: Children must be five years old before August 31st, 2022 to enter Kindergarten.
This video shows the first full days of kindergarten 2019.

List of 7 items.

  • Step 1: Applications

The Kindergarten application for the 2022-2023 school year is now closed. Please contact Drew Watson, Associate Director of Admissions, K-4, at drew.watson@trinityschoolnyc.org with any questions.
  • Step 2: Virtual Events

    • Our Kindergarten Open House took place on Thursday, September 23rd. If you were not able to attend, please click here to access the recording where you will hear from administrators and students about life at Trinity. (Please note: Student names were redacted for privacy reasons).
    • We will also host a Parent-to-Parent Roundtable event on Wednesday, October 20th at 6pm where you will hear from various parent voices in the school. To access this webinar, please click here. A Diversity and Community Event will be held on November 17th at 6pm for families to learn more about the School’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). To access this webinar, please click here. These events are optional and will be recorded for those who cannot join us live. More details and information on how to join remotely will be made available closer to the dates of the events.
  • Step 3: Virtual tours, Interviews and Assessment

Our office contacts families directly to set up appointments. This might take several weeks. In the meantime, you will receive application status updates via email approximately every two weeks. Regrettably, we are unable to meet with all families that apply. For more information about our calendar and space limitations, please click here.

Parent Tour: Led by a current Trinity parent, the virtual tour will include a series of images and conversation about life at Trinity.

Parent Interview: Parents will interview with a member of the admissions team.

Child Assessment: Children will take a virtual, non-standardized, child-friendly assessment called the T&E (Thinking and Engagement Assessment). Please click here to learn more.
  • Step 4: Classroom Observation

    • If your child is enrolled in an early childhood program that will allow someone from our team to visit in person or virtually, our office will organize this directly with the school. If your child is in a public school or a school that we are unable to connect with, we will be in touch with you to schedule a short zoom session for your child to meet with a member of our admissions team.
  • Step 5: School Report

We require a current school report from your child’s school. Most early childhood programs already have this report form (developed by our Admissions Association, ISAAGNY) and will send it to us upon completion. If you are at a non-ISAAGNY school, public school or daycare center that does not use this report format, please ask if they will fill out a blank copy of the form found here and send it back directly to us this winter.
  • Step 6: Video Clip

As we are not able to meet your child in person this admissions season, we invite you to share one brief, current (between September 1 - December 31, 2021) video clip with us. Please follow these guidelines:

Record a casual observational video that is no longer than 60 seconds in length using your mobile phone, Ipad or another device (no professional recordings, please). Spontaneous conversation may be included and is welcome.

    Suggested activities include:

    ●      Building
    ●      Drawing, painting, playdoh, etc.
    ●      Imaginary play
    ●      Outdoor time

Label your video with the applicant’s name and date of birth, and upload directly into your SchoolAdmin Parent Portal checklist. If you do not have access to a device to record a video, please let us know so we can work with you to figure out another method. Or, you may email or mail us an “action” photo instead of (but not in addition to) a video.
  • Step 7: File Completion

All application components should be in our hands by early to mid-January. The “To Do” checklist section of your SchoolAdmin account will reveal if any items are missing.

(Note: Personal letters of recommendation are not required; multiple letters sent in on behalf of a family are discouraged)
