Students will spend time exploring villages located on the south facing slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, and will learn about the influences of Northern African/Berber culture on the region. Through regular walking excursions and hikes, students will learn about the geography of the Iberian peninsula. Visits to the Alhambra in Granada and the storied city of Seville will expose students to regional differences in Spanish language and culture. Students applying for this trip must currently be enrolled in a Spanish 2 Honors or higher level Spanish language class (Spanish 3, 3 Honors, AP Language, AP Literature). Students must be prepared to speak Spanish all day, every day.
